When I was born, I was so anxious about the people around me. There was a tall charming man who was cuddling me and took a lot of my pictures. I couldn't quite see because the lights kept flashing. Then there was a young pretty woman who kissed me and took me in her arms lovingly. I later discovered that they're my mommy and daddy! I was only starting to enjoy the attention when suddenly 2 women in blue dresses took me away! They took me to a room with a lot of other tiny people crying and others, sleeping. Then I heard a sound of water dripping...then I felt my skin being clothed with water...Wow! My first bath! That was refreshing. That was really relaxing and makes me wanna ...zzz...zzzz...zzzzz....I always want to feel my mommy and daddy's warm embrace, but they also need to rest, so they bundle me up with blankets when I nap. This way I feel that their presence is just close by. | |
3 days later, they took me home. I met
my aunts. More people are now taking care of me. I was
just in time for my first Halloween. I didn't have a costume,
but my daddy bought me a pumpkin "hat". I didn't like
it much because it squeezed my cheeks, but at least I know they all
looked happy seeing me wearing it. When I was a week old, they
dressed me up and put me in a carrier. I wonder where we're
going...I saw a familiar place. We were greeted by a lady in
white with a black cord hanging around her neck. She looked
friendly. My mommy and daddy took off my clothes then I was
examined by the lady, who I learned was my pediatrician. She
took my height and weight, and my rectal temperature..(hated
that!). After that, she smiled at me and said that I was a good
baby because I didn't get scared of her, and didn't cry. Well, it
wasn't that tough visiting the doctor after all.
A month later, it was my mommy's birthday. We went out to eat. We also celebrated my first month as the newest member of the family. The following months, we all bonded together, and were more adjusted. I started discovering more and more about a lot of things. I learned that I could experiment on my face, arms and legs, and make other sounds aside from crying. Everybody who sees me finds me adorable. I enjoy it when people like me, and when I show them my moves, they all giggle, and that makes their day brighter. That's how much a tiny baby can bring happiness. I could do "pa-cute", where I bend my neck to one side, "close-open" my palms, wave "bye-bye", clap my hands, and the most famous of all, "STRONG!", where I stiffen my muscles and do a boxing stance..."Make my Day!" At about 9 months, I learned more difficult gimmicks like "beautiful eyes" where I blink my eyes, "bad smell" where I protrude my lips and squint my eyes, "flying kiss", and make my voice be heard by saying "Mama", "Papa", "Tata", and yodeling "chukoy, chukoy, chukoy...". Now I'm a year older and wiser, too! ALEXA is a variation of Alexandra, which is from the Greek, meaning "defender or protector of mankind."
